Most of us who come into this field are 'wounded healers.' I’ve made a 'best practice or self care approach' of seeking out guides, teachers, wise ones, mentors along life’s path to help me. This has included and currently includes a select number of truly gifted therapists.
I also believe that many of the struggles we face are rooted in systems of inequity, such as race, class, gender, sexuality, exploitive workplaces, oppressive environments, etc. It is through our common humanity that we struggle to overcome injustice, inwardly & outwardly. Our yearnings are both personal and collective.
We all deserve help along the way. When life throws us a challenge or quandary, all of us can benefit from a neutral ear. We need human connection as well as our own 'connect-Ed-ness' to sustain us on our unique paths.
I am an experienced, well-seasoned counsellor. I offer a safe, nonjudgemental space, along with a great sense of humour. After all, laughter is part of the healing journey.
I work with individuals, families, children and parents with a variety of concerns, some of which may be anxiety, depression, PTSD/trauma, grief, loss, relationship/family issues and a host of negative experiences which people want to overcome.
Pursuing professional development continues to be a deeply held value. I believe the term 'best practice' is a combination of on-the-job experience, continuous learning as well as attending to one’s own internal processes. I feel very privileged to do this work. I also like to spend time at the ocean, listen to audiobooks, garden and enjoy leisurely activities with friends & family. I am a mom of two grown daughters and a grandmother of three grandsons. I live with my spouse in Mission, B.C.
